Presenter: Dr Mark Calleija – Research Associate Australian Centre for Field Robotics
About Mark: Mark Calleija is a computer scientist and systems engineer with over 10 years’ experience in developing robotic ground vehicles. Mark joined the Australian Centre for Field Robotics (ACFR) at The University of Sydney in early 2008. His role at ACFR has spanned industries including mining, defence and social robotics. Since 2012, he has focussed on developing agricultural robots where he led the systems engineering and co-designed several robotic systems including the Mantis, Shrimp, Ladybird, RIPPA and SwagBot robotic systems.
About the Topic: Opportunities for Robots in Agriculture
This presentation will discuss some of ACFR’s work in applying robotic systems to agriculture and the transformational potential of their introduction. It will communicate some of the current and projected capabilities and applications of ACFR’s robotic systems as well as discuss opportunities for preparing for a future involving upcoming robotic technologies.
